Crack the Cabin Crew Interview: A Step-by-Step Guide to Joining Airlines like IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India & More

CABIN CREW COURSE

If you’ve ever dreamt of flying high and making the skies your office, then a career as a cabin crew might be your calling. Whether you’re aiming for IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India, Air Asia, Akasa Air, or Air India Express, the interview process is your runway to success.

At Wings Institute, India’s leading aviation training academy, we prepare hundreds of students each year to land their dream jobs as cabin crew members. If you’re getting ready to appear for an interview, this guide will walk you through the entire process — with expert tips to stand out and soar above the rest.

Step 1: Application or Walk-In – Start Your Journey

Most airlines in India conduct walk-in interviews, especially IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air. Others like Air India and AirAsia often post openings on their websites or job portals.

What you need to carry:
• Updated resume
Passport-size photos (full-length and close-up)
10th & 12th mark sheets
• A valid ID proof (Aadhar, Passport, etc.)
• Medical fitness certificate (optional but recommended)

Pro Tip: Always dress in formal western attire — think a crisp white shirt and black trousers/skirt.

Step 2: First Impressions Count – Grooming & Screening Round

This round is all about how you present yourself. Airlines look for individuals who are:
• Well-groomed and confident
• Have a pleasant personality
• Meet basic height and BMI requirements

Eligibility Snapshot:
• Minimum height: 155 cm (female) | 170 cm (male)
• Clear skin and no visible tattoos
• BMI within the airline’s acceptable range

At Wings Institute, we help students with professional grooming, posture correction, and personality development so they’re interview-ready.

Step 3: Group Discussion – Speak Up, Stand Out

A group discussion (GD) tests your communication, confidence, and team spirit.

Topics may include:
• “Importance of customer service in aviation”
• “Role of cabin crew during emergencies”
• “How social media impacts today’s youth”

What airlines are looking for:
• Fluency in English and Hindi
• Clarity of thoughts and speech
• Polite behaviour and teamwork

Step 4: Personal Interview – Show Them You’re Made for the Skies.

This is your moment to shine. Be prepared to answer:
• “Why do you want to become a cabin crew?”
• “What do you know about our airline?”
• “Describe a time you handled a tough situation.”

Tip: Don’t memorize answers. Be genuine, enthusiastic, and professional. Let your passion for hospitality show!

Step 5: Medical Test – Fit to Fly

If you clear the HR round, you’ll go through a medical test to ensure you’re fit for flying duties.

Medical Check Includes:
• Height & weight (BMI)
• Eye & ear tests
• General health screening

Make sure to maintain a healthy lifestyle — this step is often underestimated but crucial.

Step 6: Final Selection & In-House Training

Once selected, you’ll receive a job offer and undergo rigorous training at the airline’s training centre. This can last anywhere from 2 to 6 months, depending on the airline.

You’ll be trained in:
• Safety & emergency procedures
• First aid
• Aviation security
• Grooming and etiquette
• Communication skills

At Wings Institute, our cabin crew course includes mock interview sessions, real-time GDs, grooming masterclasses, and soft skills workshops — giving our students a major edge.
