ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operations)

Definition:

Regulatory framework allowing twin-engine aircraft (A320, B737, A330) to operate routes far from diversion airports — ETOPS-120, ETOPS-180, ETOPS-330 thresholds.

Context & Usage

Long-haul Indian carriers (Air India, IndiGo A321XLR) operate under ETOPS approvals. Cabin crew training includes ETOPS-specific medical and emergency scenarios.
